Western-Washtenaw Area Value Express (WAVE) is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing transportation for all in Greater Western Washtenaw County by enhancing access and opportunity in our community.

WAVE connects residents to essential resources, employment, education, recreation, and community events, empowering individuals and promoting sustainable growth for local businesses and services in Western Washtenaw County. As a non-profit, WAVE relies on the generous support of the community and accepts donations to help expand its services and reach more individuals in need.

College Student

I can drive but I started to use WAVE to get to and from Eastern Michigan University because it is a lower cost than driving myself AND I can study, read, or wrap up homework on the way. I ended the semester with all A’s.

I like how easy it is to call and set up regular pickups. I am unable to drive due to a medical condition, and the Door to Door service gives me independence to go where I want.

I used to drive my loved one 20 minutes to their 2-hour program, 20 minutes home, then 20 minutes to get them and 20 minutes back home. Three days a week that was at least an hour and a half driving when I could have been taking care of myself. Thanks to WAVE, I now have almost 4 hours three days a week to myself for errands, chores, and coffee or even a movie with a friend - definitely couldn’t do that before!

WAVE saved my mom’s life. I live too far away to take her to her dialysis appointments - 3 days a week. Taxi’s and Ubers either were way too much for us to afford for her or they didn’t show up. The WAVE dispatcher was so kind on the phone and the driver was willing to stay over 15 minutes on the days my mom needed a ride home.

While waiting for her car to be done in the shop, a customer was walking to CRC to visit her mom. She injured her leg while walking and one of the WAVE drivers stopped and asked if she needed help. The driver took her to her mom and Urgent Care.
