Western-Washtenaw Area Value Express (WAVE) is proud to announce the launch of its new Late Night Service, a pilot transportation program that provides safe, reliable rides within a 7-mile radius of downtown Chelsea.
Running every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 PM to 1 AM throughout June, July, and August, this program ensures that residents, workers, and visitors can travel around Chelsea safely after hours.
Thanks to generous support from the Chelsea Downtown Development Authority, which contributed $20,000 to jumpstart the pilot program, WAVE is able to offer a flat $20 fare per ride, regardless of the number of passengers (as long as the group shares the same pickup and drop-off location). All rides must be booked exclusively through WAVE’s Ride Pingo app, available on both the Google Play and Apple App stores.
“Good nights out need good rides home,” said Terris Ahrens, executive director of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce. “The new WAVE Late Night Service is an investment in our local economy. It ensures safe, reliable transportation for patrons and staff, helping our nightlife businesses grow while keeping our community connected and secure after hours.”
To celebrate the official launch of this exciting new service, WAVE invites the community to a Late Night Service Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Thursday, June 12 at 8 p.m. on West Middle Street in downtown Chelsea.
